Innovation: Allegro Field Data PC™ RFID Recipient: Steve Hamblin Senior Director of Sales American Innovations Austin, Texas, United States Corrosion Control Category: Cathodic Protection Web site: www.aiworldwide.com The Allegro Field Data PC™ uses radio-frequency identifcation (RFID) for surveys to ensure compliance and accuracy for cathodic protection inspections by simplifying routing, verifying test locations, and generating an automatic inspection history log at a test location. This eliminates guesswork or the need to carry alignment sheet data and provides 100% verifcation that inspections were performed. Users scan an RFID tag on a test point, rectifer, bond, or other piece of equipment, and the location is verifed and automatically included with the related inspection survey data. In addition, Allegro appends the serial number, data, and time to the tag, providing a foolproof way to verify the inspection occurred. If a tag is not present on site or is incorrect, users can generate and confrm a new tag or alter the preexisting tag depending on their permissions. The data then can be downloaded for data management, audit support, and reporting. Innovation: Capturx Pipeline Solutions Recipient: Ted Gauld VP Product Management Adapx Seattle, Washington, United States Corrosion Control Category: Integrity Assessment Web site: www.adapx.com Using tablets or digital pens and standard paper forms, Capturx Pipeline Solutions automates feld data capture and provides integrity teams with instant visibility to pipeline inspection data collected in the feld. Field teams can create and deploy simply designed custom pipeline forms using Excel. The forms can range from quality assurance (QA) inspections for coating thicknesses of pipe sections in yards to direct assessment of pipelines and updates of piping and instrumentation diagrams. When paper forms are completed using digital pens, the data are instantly digitized and stored on the pen. When the non-incendiary pen is connected to a PC or to a cell phone via Bluetooth, the data are instantly sent to the head offce for faster decision-making and better compliance documentation. 164 MATERIALS PERFORMANCE July 2013 The pen can be used in rain, bright sunlight, or incendiary environments for days at a time. Teams can also download the forms to tablets where they can be used online or offine through a browser. NACE International, Vol. 52, No. 7
