Knowles, who has more than 30 years of in- dustry experience, joins EN Engineering from global energy services provider Wood Group Mustang, Inc. (Houston, Texas), where he served as CEO from 2006 to 2015. "Leveraging his incredible experience at Wood Group Mustang, Steve brings the leadership skills, strategic thinking, and guidance necessary to realize the growth potential of our business," says Tom Ziegenfuss, president of EN Engineering. During his tenure as CEO of Wood Group Mustang, Knowles was responsible for sig- nificantly increasing the company's geo- graphic footprint, employee base, and revenues. Prior to Wood Group Mustang, Knowles worked as a project engineer and project manager for Saudi Aramco (Dhah- ran, Saudi Arabia) in Saudi Arabia and Malaysia. Knowles began his career as an offshore construction engineer with Chevron U.S.A. (San Ramon, California). AkzoNobel Acquires Powder Coatings Venture in Egypt AkzoNobel (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) raised its stake in Akzo Nobel Powder Coat- ings SAE (Giza, Egypt) from 60 to 100%. The transaction forms part of the company's ac- celerated growth strategy for Egypt and the wider North Africa region. As well as oper- ating a powder coatings plant in Cairo, Egypt, Akzo Nobel Powder Coatings SAE also has a 90% stake in the trading firm Akzo Nobel Powder Coatings Trading SAE (Giza, Egypt). "This is an important step in our strategy to enhance our presence in the region," says Conrad Keijzer, AkzoNobel's executive committee member responsible for its performance coatings business. "We are now taking our operations in Egypt and North Africa to the next level and consoli- dating our credentials as a leader in the powder coating sector." According to indus- try reports, the global powder coatings market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 6.8% from 2016 to 2020, to over $11 billion in value. Both vol- ume and revenues are projected to grow, led by robust demand from packaging, automotive, consumer goods, general in- dustry, architectural, and other sectors. Evoqua Water Technologies Acquires Magneto Special Anodes Evoqua Water Technologies (Warrendale, Pennsylvania) acquired privately held Magneto Special Anodes, which has opera- tions in Schiedam, The Netherlands, and Suzhou, China. The Magneto business, with ~120 employees across its two locations, focuses on the development and manufac- ture of anodes for the electrochemical in- dustry and the refurbishment of electro- chlorination cells for seawater electrolysis. The Magneto business line will be com- bined with Evoqua's existing anode busi- ness, which operates under the Optima brand and is based in Union, New Jersey. The new business segment will have sales and manufacturing footprints in North America, Europe, and Asia, and it will serve customers in a number of key vertical markets, Evoqua says. Magneto, founded in 1957, invented and commer- cialized the first inert titanium-based anodes with an active precious metal coat- ing. Its products are used throughout the electrochemical industry, as well as for cathodic protection; the production of chlorine and hypochlorite; electroplating; water purification; and hydrogen production. Sherwin-Williams Launches LinkedIn Group for Water and Wastewater The protective and marine coatings busi- ness of Sherwin-Williams (Cleveland, Ohio) is launching a new social media presence designed to advance leadership in the water and wastewater industry. The "Water and Wastewater Industry Group by Sherwin-Williams Protective and Marine Coatings" on LinkedIn is the place for water and wastewater professionals to discuss issues related to protective coatings and lining materials for their operations. The group welcomes water system operators, engineers, contractors, maintenance per- sonnel, and other professionals allied to the water and wastewater fields to explore the critical role that coatings and linings play in asset protection. MMFX Steel Appoints Sweitzer as Vice President MMFX Steel Corp. of America (Irvine, Califor- nia) appointed Sherry Sweitzer as the com pany's new vice presi- dent of sales and marketing. In that role, Sweitzer is re- sponsible for growing sales through the effective management of the company's North American sales team, as well as edu- cating customers on the benefits of MMFX products through strategic marketing and communication efforts. "Sherry's experience in the engineering and construction fields and her knowledge of effective sales management systems and marketing will certainly enhance our efforts to meet the needs of customers," says Tom Russo, CEO of MMFX. Through- out her career, Sweitzer has contributed to business growth through positions in sales management, business development mar- keting, and operations related to engineer- ing and construction. Before joining MMFX, Sweitzer served as vice president of global sales for Jacobs Engineering Group (Pasadena, California).
