Organized by the NACE Milano Italia Section with the sponsorship of the Italian Institute of Welding (IIS), Centro Inox, and Industrial Valves Summit (IVS), the event repre- sented a unique forum for engineers, tech- nicians, and end-users operating in the NACE Area & Section News Europe Area field of corrosion prevention in various applications, from downhole to pipelines and refinery. The conference was attended by more than 300 participants from 23 countries, both Euro- pean and non-European (North and South America, Japan, and Australia) and from 146 compa- nies. It featured three parallel sessions, with the presentation of technical papers distributed among seven subjects of great impact: oil and gas pipeline, coating technology, cathodic protection (CP), welding, oil refinery, oil and gas downhole, and failure analysis. The event, which also fea- tured an expo, was a great suc- cess thanks to the support of 25 sponsors and 42 exhibitors covering the complete range of products and services address- ing corrosion prevention, from protective coatings to CP, labo- ratory analysis, inspection and testing instruments, mechanical engineering, inspection and repair, coating consulting and inspection, sealing, and painting contractors. The next evening continued with a gala dinner, attended by more than 100 people, in one of the most beautiful and presti- gious old villas of Genoa accompanied by music from a guitar duo. At the conclu- sion of the event, Centro Inox delivered a technical speech on "Stainless Steel in the Wine Industry," followed by a delicious closing wine tasting offered by the Tuscany Cinciano Winery.
