Near Infrared Borescope for Temperature Measurement Industrial infrared non-contact tempera- ture measurement specialist AMETEK Land (Berwyn, Pennsylvania) released the new Near Infrared Borescope (NIR-B) 3XR for industrial gas applications. The NIR-B 3XR delivers continuous reformer tube wall temperature measurement and furnace optimization and monitoring, allowing accurate temperature point data to be mea- sured, stored, and trended over the lifetime of the furnace. The high-resolution image, combined with the 90-degree, wide-angle field of view, allows multiple reformer tubes to be imaged and measured simultane- ously, which is critical to extending asset life and maximizing efficiency. The product uses the shortest wavelength possible to minimize errors associated with varying emissivity. In addition to improving accu- racy, the product also reduces personnel risk by removing the need for an operator or technician to be in a hazardous area on a regular basis. With advanced digital com- munications, the image and data can be viewed in real time from the safety of the control room. Tel: +44 (0)1246-417691, Web site: landinst.com. Concrete Reinforcing Steel Rebar CAP Steel (Talcahuano, Chile) produced its first heat of Chro – mX 9100 rebar at its Huachipato plant. The product is a high- strength, corrosion-resistant concrete reinforcing steel based on the nanotech- nolog y of MMFX Technologies Corp. The rebar provides over 690 MPa of yield strength and 1,050 MPa of ultimate tensile strength, allowing for efficient high- strength construction designs. Addition- ally, the rebar has proven to be five times more corrosion resistant than standard black bar, thereby extending the service life and lowering costs over the life of the structure. The steels will be marketed and sold in South American countries such as Chile. Tel: +1 949-476-7600, Web site: mmfx.com.
