20 AUGUST 2017 MATERIALS PERFORMANCE NACE INTERNATIONAL: VOL. 56, NO. 8 COMPANY NEWS Corrosion Specialist Adds U.K., Norway, Singapore Positions Allan Durham. Photo courtesy of Presserv Group. Corrosion spe- cialist Presserv Group (Stavan- ger, Norway) announced that it created seven new positions across its oper- ations in the United King- dom, Norway, and Singapore. Brian Reid joined the company as opera- tions manager of its Aberdeen office in Scotland. A 30-year veteran of the fabric maintenance industry, Reid previously worked for Wood Group (Aberdeen, United Kingdom) and Shell (The Hague, The Netherlands). In his new role, Reid will work to support business growth. Other new U.K. positions include a field supervisor based out of Aberdeen and a business development executive in the Central Belt region of Scotland. "The last year has been strong for Presserv in the United Kingdom," says Allan Durham, managing director. Meanwhile, operations managers and sales staff will join the Nor- way and Singapore teams. These new posi- tions will strengthen the group's opera- tions and allow it to increase its workload in the preservation sector, all while expanding further into corrosion control, aboveground storage tank preservation, and the preservation management of floating, production, storage, and offload- ing units. European Recycling Project for Corrosion-Inhibiting Plastic Films A recycling program involving corrosion-inhibit- ing plastic films is being implemented at the EcoCortec bioplastics plant in Beli Manastir, Croatia. Photo courtesy of Cortec. A Croatian bioplastics plant owned by cor- rosion control technologies group Cortec (St. Paul, Minnesota) is implementing an initiative to collect and recycle its used VpCI † vapor-phase corrosion inhibitor films and bags from its European custom- ers. These films are used across the globe to protect metal parts and equipment from corrosion during storage and ship- ping operations. Customers can send their waste material back to the group's plant in Beli Manastir, Croatia, which houses the recently created plastics recycling com- plex for the group's customers. The col- lected waste materials will then be completely recycled and used for manu- facturing new product. With state-of-the- art reprocessing equipment, the plant plans to implement its own reprocessing moving forward, incorporating no more than 20% of recycled product back into virgin film to ensure the quality of the new products. The company expects the recy- cling program, its first program of this type implemented in Europe, to drive eco- nomic and environmental benefits for the plant, clients, and the environment. † Trade name.
