22 NOVEMBER 2017 MATERIALS PERFORMANCE NACE INTERNATIONAL: VOL. 56, NO. 11 COMPANY NEWS Texas A&M; Plans Engineering Technical Management Program Beginning in the fall of 2018, Texas A&M; University (College Station, Texas) will offer a new online master's degree program, Master of Engineering Technical Manage- ment (METM)—a 21-month, part-time, online program designed for working pro- fessionals. The METM curriculum is tai- lored to meet the needs of engineering and technical professionals looking to transi- tion into project management. Classes will be taught by veteran industry professionals and professors with industry experience. Courses will focus on business concepts, such as data-driven decision making, proj- ect management, and new product develop- ment, while building a foundation in leader- ship and emotional intelligence. METM students will begin each year by spending one week in residency in College Station. Throughout that week, they will work directly alongside faculty, hear from guest speakers, and create a lifelong network. Stu- dents will also complete the program in College Station by presenting a year-long capstone project to faculty and classmates before participating in graduation ceremonies. Semblant (Scotts Valley, California), a pro- tective nanomaterials provider for the elec- tronics industry, recently opened a dedi- cated customer innovation center in Shenzhen, China. The opening of the new facility follows the adoption of the compa- ny's MobileShield waterproofing technol- ogy by multiple leading smartphone manu- facturers in China, and the growth of additional vertical markets in Asia. "With six factory installments completed in China to date, and many more planned, we have established this facility to demonstrate all aspects of our high-volume solution to cur- rent and future customers," says CEO Simon McElrea. The center provides existing and prospective customers with unique insight into the group's nanotechnology capabili- ties.
