74 AUGUST 2018 W W W.MATERIALSPERFORMANCE.COM NACE NEWS NACE Volunteer Opportunities Increase F or the past two years, NACE Interna- tional has posted more than 165 dif- ferent volunteer opportunities on NACE Connect that have ranged from tasks that can be completed within a few hours to commitments that can last a year or more. So far, over 255 volunteers from around the world have participated in these opportuni- ties, both in person and online—and the number of NACE volunteers and opportu- nities to volunteer for NACE continue to grow. Through the NACE Connect online plat- form, NACE members are able to view a list of all current volunteer opportunities and determine those that interest them based on the specific requirements of the task and their time availability. Volunteering is a wonderful way to meet new people and feel good about the impact you are making for NACE and the corrosion-control community. It doesn't have to involve a commitment to long-term events or a significant amount of time. Opportunities are available at various com- mitment levels for members who are inter- ested in getting more involved. To register or simply browse other current NACE vol- unteer opportunities, please visit connect. nace.org/volunteeropportunities. Now Accepting Nominations for the MP Corrosion Innovation of the Year Awards M aterials Performance is now ac- cepting nominations for its 2019 Corrosion Innovation of the Year Awards. The nomination period continues until October 31, 2018. Successful innovations should show the potential for a significant positive impact in corrosion control. Innovations may be related to coatings and linings, materials, design, equipment, testing, monitoring, integrity assessment, cathodic protection, or chemical treatment— anything that directly relates to corrosion prevention and mitigation. Award nominations will be accepted from individuals, companies, organiza- tions, and government agencies world- wide. There is no fee to submit a nomination. The nomination form asks for a full description of each innovation, including the need for the innovation; the process used for developing and implementing the innovation; an evaluation of the results; and criteria used to determine its success. To be nominated, the innovation must have been in some sort of development phase on or after January 1, 2014. Each nomination will be rated by a panel of leading corrosion experts using a numerical scoring system. The highest- rated innovations will receive the awards. Nominated technologies will be posted on the MP awards web site. Each innova- tion selected for an award will be pre- sented with one trophy at an award presentation on March 25, 2019, during NACE International's CORROSION 2019 Conference and Exhibition in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. All top innovations also will be highlighted in MP. Details on the award program, in cluding the nomination guidelines and submission form, can be found at www.nace.org/MPInnovationAwards.
