55 MATERIALS PERFORMANCE: VOL. 57, NO. 9 SEPTEMBER 2018 J oseph A. Lehmann passed away on April 23, 2018. He was 89 years old. He was a resident of Magnolia, Texas, USA at the time of his passing. He had been a member of NACE International, involved in the areas of gas and liquid pipe- lines, including cathodic protection, and other areas of infrastructure. Lehmann is survived by his wife, Pauline; daughters Barbara Parker (Mark), Dianne Nelson (Ivan), Lisa Lehmann, and Christine Staples (Chris); grandchildren Mark Parker Jr., Kimberly Nelson, Sydney Buford, Grace Staples, and Emily Staples; and numerous other relatives and special friends. In Memoriam Western Area Arizona Section N ACE International President Jeffrey Didas made a surprise ap- pearance to talk to the students at a NACE Arizona Section-sponsored rectifier school in Glendale, Arizona, USA. Didas discussed the history and benefits of NACE and shared his personal history in the industry. The class, held June 7 to 8, 2018 and taught by C.M. Nelson of C.M. Nelson instructed the 17th Arizona Section rectifier school in June 2018. NACE President Jeffrey Didas (standing, left) presented information about NACE International during the school. JA Electronics, is in its 17th year. Nelson volunteered his time and Accurate Corro- sion Control, Inc. provided the facilities at no cost. Proceeds from the class go to vari- ous philanthropic causes such as the NACE Arizona Section annual engineering and applied math scholarship program and the NACE Foundation. The scholarship pro- gram includes the University of Arizona, Arizona State, and Northern Arizona Uni- versity, which are funded by proceeds from this school as well as two fundraising golf tournaments held each year by the section.
