(Downey, California, USA) an- nounced that John Keppler joined the company as a corrosion engineer. He will work from the company's office in Mukilteo, Wash- ington, USA, located near Seattle. With al- most 40 years of technical experience re- lated to cathodic protection (CP) and corrosion control, Keppler is expected to be an asset to its U.S. clients, according to the company. A registered professional corrosion and civil engineer, as well as a NACE-certified Cathodic Protection Spe- cialist, Keppler has worked on CP projects in industries including pipeline, refining, storage, power, marine, and civil. His work has included system design, inspection, testing, supervision, training, technical support, and more. "John's experience and knowledge in our industry are rare, and we are excited about the opportunities he brings," says Troy Rankin, president of Farwest. Henkel Acquires Chilean Building Materials Firm Chemicals company Henkel (Düsseldorf, Germany) agreed to acquire Aislantes Nacionales S.A. (Santiago, Chile), a major company in the Chilean tile adhesive and building materials market. The privately owned Chilean company specializes in manufacturing and marketing a wide vari- ety of products in the building materials market. Its portfolio includes ceramic tile installation systems, mortars for finishing floors and walls, elastic sealants, and insu- lation systems. In fiscal year 2017, the company—which employs ~220 people at a local production site—generated sales of Nominations Sought for Annual Water Tank Contest Entries are now being accepted for the 2018 Tank of the Year competition sponsored by architectural and industrial coating products manufacturer Tnemec Co. (Kansas City, Missouri, USA). Nomi nations can be submitted electronically and all tank styles are eligible. Photographs of all nominated water tanks will be posted on the contest web page, where the general public can vote for the People's Choice award. This award winner will automatically be con- sidered along with 11 other committee-determined tanks for the overall Tank of the Year winner. A committee of water tank enthusiasts will judge these finalists based on artistic value, significance of the tank to the surrounding community, and challenges encountered during the project. The deadline for nominating proj- ects is October 1, 2018 and the overall winner will be announced on October 26. The 2017 Tank of the Year winner is in Destin, Florida, USA.
