Coating Systems Company to Expand Texas Production Plant Axalta Coating Systems (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA) announced the 30,000 ft 2 (2,787 m 2 ) expansion of its production facility in Jacksonville, Texas, USA. The expansion is slated to be completed in the first quarter of 2019 and will increase the company's annual liquid industrial coatings production capacity in North America by ~1,000,000 gal. The Jacksonville plant has experienced continued growth over the past year, the company explains, emerging as one of its most efficient and productive manufacturing plants. Surface Coatings Group Awarded U.K. Aerospace Funding Grants Coating reactors at the U.K. facility. Advanced surface coating technology company Hardide Coatings (Oxfordshire, United Kingdom) was recently awarded funding from a U.K. aerospace initiative, designed to further the application of the company's innovative coating technology to aircraft components. The U.K. National Aerospace Technology Exploitation Pro- gramme (NATEP) is a £14.4m program to mature 40 aerospace technologies in the U.K. aerospace supply chain. The company was awarded NATEP funding for two proj- ects, each slated to last 18 months. The first collaborative project is to develop a grinding and super-finish technology for the Hardide-A coating, which the com- pany says is a proven direct replacement for hard chrome plating. Meanwhile, the second project is to develop the process- ing of an ultra-low temperature coating that will increase the range of aerospace substrate materials suitable for the com- pany's coating process. Protective Coatings Manufacturer Acquires Two Product Lines Protective coatings manufacturer Carboline Co. (St. Louis, Missouri, USA) announced the acquisition of the Strath- more and American Coatings product lines. The American Coatings brand was acquired by Strathmore (Houston, Texas, USA) in 2014. Strathmore was founded in 1942 and provides coatings solutions to customers in rail, oil and gas, marine, and other industrial markets. Meanwhile, American Coatings has offered interior and exterior coatings to industrial manu- facturers, contractors, tank builders, floor coating applicators, and equipment own- ers for more than 30 years.
