22 NOVEMBER 2014 MATERIALS PERFORMANCE NACE INTERNATIONAL: VOL. 53, NO. 11 Ashland to Expand Capacity at Nanjing Facility Ashland Specialty Ingredients (Nanjing, China), a commercial unit of Ashland, Inc., announced it is expanding the capacity of its Natrosol hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC) production facility in Nanjing by 4,000 metric tons, or ~40%, over the next 18 months. The four-year-old facility, which employs more than 100 workers, is located within the Nanjing Chemical Industrial Park, a modern, highly integrated chemi- cal manufacturing complex. Natrosol is a cellulosic polymer used as an additive in a wide variety of industrial and consumer products, including latex paints, paper, coatings, and personal care items such as shampoos and shower gels. The additional capacity will come online in two phases: the first 2,000 metric tons will be available in early 2015 to support the spring paint- ing season and the second 2,000 metric tons will be available in late 2015. Philpott Celebrates 125 Years The Philpott Rubber Co. (Brunswick, Ohio) is cele- brating 125 years of solving problems for its customers and making them more competitive in the challenging global market. Philpott has grown from its beginning in 1889, when John W. Philpott pushed his wooden cart around Cleveland, Ohio selling gas- kets and rubber liners, into a company that designs polymeric solutions that move, seal, protect, and hold industrial products, and helps customers overcome their toughest industrial challenges. The goal of the employee-owned company is not just to lead the way in its industry, but also bring industrial rubber and plastic manufacturing back to the United States to create jobs. "When we do what we do well, we help our customers make more money while encouraging employees to latory compliance and integrity manage- ment. Paskett comes to Structural Integrity after more than 30 years with NW Natural, where he held various senior technical and managerial leadership roles. Most recently, he worked closely with the American Gas Association as an advocate for new pipeline safety regulations that are meaning ful and improve pipeline safety while being achievable by pipeline operat- ing companies. Sandmeyer Steel Hires New District Sales Manager Kimberly A. Rodriguez joined Sand- meyer Steel Co. (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) as district sales manager for the New Eng- land territory. She will serve customers in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont as well as Erie, McKean, and Warren Coun- ties in Pennsylvania. Rodriguez has sales experience in stainless steel tubular prod- ucts as well as various other industries. "Kim's extensive sales experience and knowledge of the New England territory will be an asset to Sandmeyer Steel Com- pany's field sales team," says Ronald P. Sandmeyer, Jr., president and chief execu- tive officer. AMTI Announces New Outside Sales Representative Houston, Texas-based Alloy Metals and Tubes In- ternational (AMTI) an- nounced that Christopher Salinas joined the company as senior outside sales representative. In this capacity, Salinas will be responsible for selling some of the highest quality in- strumentation tubing in the oil and gas industry, as well as tubing used in mea- surement while drilling (MWD) and log- ging while drilling (LWD) operations. "We are extremely pleased to have Chris on board," says Pamela Bridgeman, vice presi- dent of sales for AMTI. "He brings a wealth of tubular products sales experience and a proven ability to grow market share." Sali- nas comes to AMTI from Sandvik Materi- als Technology, where he was field sales representative for mechanical products. In that capacity, he was responsible for grow- ing the bar and hollow bar product lines, which increased exponentially under his direction. Paskett Joins Structural Integrity Associates Bruce Paskett joined Struc- tural Integrity Associates (San Jose, Cali- fornia) as a se- nior associate in its oil and gas pipeline in- tegrity group.
