(Los Angeles, California) entered into a merger agreement with Nip- pon Paint Holdings Co. (Osaka, Japan), the world's fourth-largest paint company with $4.8 billion in annual sales. Nippon Paint will maintain the Dunn-Edwards brand and its range of paints to provide a plat- form for growth. Founded in Los Angeles, Dunn-Edwards has roots in the U.S. South- west, where it operates 130 stores and has more than 80 authorized dealers. Dedi- cated to preserving and protecting the environment, Dunn-Edwards manufac- tures coatings in a Gold-certified facility under the U.S. Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) program. The 135-year-old Nippon Paint company operates over 30 manufacturing plants throughout Asia, where it produces over 1 million tons per year of paints and coatings. Elcometer Opens Office in Dubai Inspection equipment manufacturer Elcometer (Manchester, United Kingdom) recently announced the opening of a new sales office in Dubai, United Arab Emir- ates. The new subsidiary, EL Inspection & Blasting Equipment LLC, is now open for business. The unit is responsible for sales, after sales, and training support in the United Arab Emirates for Elcometer's complete range of coating, concrete, and ultrasonic nondestructive testing (NDT) inspection equipment. The office repre- sents Elcometer's 10th international facility. AkzoNobel Appoints Protective Coatings Director Steven Feldman Protective coat- ings, linings, and fire protection products pro- vider AkzoNobel (Amsterdam, The Nether- lands) appointed Steven Feldman as its business director for pro- tective coatings in North America. In this role, Feldman will be responsible for devel- oping the strategic sales and growth initia- tives related to the company's interna- tional products, Devoe high-performance coatings, and Ceilcote, Polibrid, and Envi- roline linings products. Feldman, a coat- ings industry veteran of more than 35 years, is a coating inspector with NACE International Coatings Inspector Program (CIP) Level 3 certification.
