26 MAY 2017 MATERIALS PERFORMANCE NACE INTERNATIONAL: VOL. 56, NO. 5 Software Predicts Axial Cracks in Oil, Gas Pipelines Independent research and development organization Battelle (Columbus, Ohio) released PipeAssess PI A xial Crack Soft- ware, designed for oil and gas pipeline companies to meet critical industry requirements and simplify decision- making. The software is a user-friendly, customizable alternative to traditional software. It incorporates important simu- lation elements such as user-defined hydrostatic tests, operating pressure pro- files, and attribute inputs (such as pipe geometry, material properties, and crack geometry) to provide more complete and accurate life predictions. The software provides highly reliable, physics-based modeling and prediction for axial crack growth in standard linepipe sizes and grades, including pipes made of brittle, quasi-brittle, and ductile steels. It considers multiple mechanisms for crack growth, such as time-dependent cracking during hydrostatic tests and fatigue cracking due to pressure cycles. Tel: +1 614-424-7208, web site: battelle.org. Expanded Enclosure Line for Rectifiers Polycarbonate (PC) enclosures company Fibox (Glen Burnie, Maryland) expanded its ARCA family of PC cabinet enclosure products with the ARCA IEC series for cathodic protection (CP) rectifiers. Prod- ucts in the new series range in size from 6 by 6 by 6 in (152 by 152 by 152 mm) to 31.5 by 23.5 by 12 in (800 by 597 by 305 mm). Molded in PC, the products are resistant to corrosion, impact, and ultra- violet light. As a result, they will not rust, dent, crack, or f lake and bloom in the field—ensuring a dry environment free of dust. In addition, the Wi-Fi friendly nature of PC reduces the need for an external antenna mount. The products are ideal for extended field use and remote monitoring, where enclosures can protect electrical and electronic equipment across many industrial applications. The products come with standard wall mount- ing feet, and they are available for both portrait and landscape orientation. All enclosure sizes offer opaque covers and feature an overlapping cover design, which provides superior protection of the polyurethane gasket. Tel: 1 888-342-6987, web site: fiboxusa.com.
