New U.K. Surface Coating Training Facility Presserv, Ltd. (Aberdeen, United Kingdom) is launching a new training facility, which will train 150 graduates by the end of 2018 to apply the company's range of protective coatings to pipework and structural steel assets both onshore and offshore. The new courses, delivered by training and opera- tions manager Brian Reid, will teach con- tractors and operators the correct way to apply the company's surface coatings, building upon the group's reputation as a provider of preservation, surface prepara- tion, and specialist coatings. "When apply- ing STOPAQ surface coating solutions, there is minimal surface preparation required, meaning a reduced requirement for abrasive blasting," Reid says. Presserv's training is offered at three distinct levels— technician-level certified application, advanced application, and inspection and supervision certification—in the com - pany's customized training room and workshops. "Each training session com- prises a classroom-based presentation before a practical, hands-on learning expe- rience with materials specific to the pipes or steel surfaces trainees will be working with," Reid adds.
