Tuesday, April 17, 2018 Wednesday, April 18, 2018 GenNEXT Bash Celebrates the Future of the Industry High School Students Attend Corrosion Mini-Camp The Outstanding Student Award, presented to Nicholas D'Angelo from the University of Akron, is given by the NACE Foundation to recognize exceptional service to NACE or the NACE Foundation by a NACE student member in good standing. Students visit the NACE Cathodic Protection Field in the Exhibit Hall during the NACE Foundation's CORROSION: Opportunities Realized mini-camp. By ranking the reactivity of different metals in blue copper sulfate (CuSO 4 ) solution, mini-camp students learned about the activity series of metals. The Van Buren, downtown Phoenix's newest concert venue, was the site of the NACE Foundation's GenNEXT Bash event, which followed the Scholarship Awards Ceremony. The event was enjoyed by more than 670 conference attendees. High energy and lively tunes kept the dance floor filled throughout the evening. The NACE Foundation's fourth annual corrosion mini-camp, CORROSION: Opportunities Realized, hosted 53 high school students at CORROSION 2018. Participants were invited from three Phoenix area high schools—South Mountain High School, Bioscience High School, and Fairfax High School—to learn about career and academic opportunities in corrosion from industry leaders and professionals.
