Guest Program registration does not include access to any technical symposia or committee meetings. Guest Program activities for the registrants include: Guest Reception On Sunday, April 15, guests will enjoy an afternoon to unwind and relax with other Guest Program attendees. The reception will last from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Sheraton Grand Phoenix. Food and drinks will be provided. Opening Reception Kick off CORROSION 2018 at the City of Phoenix Convention Center on Sunday evening with conference attendees and exhibitors. Drinks and hors d'oeuvres will be provided. CORROSION 2018 Expo Grand Opening Join the attendees of CORROSION 2018 for an evening admission to the Expo Grand Opening at the Phoenix Convention Center, which includes access to more than 400 exhibiting companies across 85,000 ft 2 (7987 m 2 ) of exhibit space. Continental Breakfast Enjoy an expanded continental breakfast at the Sheraton Grand Phoenix from Monday through Wednesday, serving from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Other activities are provided by local tour companies and the tour prices are listed below. Saturday, April 14 The Grand Canyon Departs Sheraton Grand at 7 a.m. (Return approximately 9 to 9:30 p.m.) Sit back, relax and get ready to enjoy a fun and informative 14-hour tour to the Grand Canyon, including stops in Sedona and the Navajo Reservation. There will be brief stops to view the famous Red Rocks of Sedona before a spectacular scenic drive through Oak Creek Canyon. Enjoy a delicious lunch, on your own, at the Cameron Trading Post on the Navajo Reservation overlooking the Little Colorado River Gorge before heading into Grand Canyon National Park. Time allows visitors to walk around the rim and take some spectacular pictures. Your last stop will include time to shop and view the canyon one last time from the historic El Tovar Hotel. Your return trip includes a 30-minute rest stop so you can grab a quick bite before returning to your hotel. Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime Grand Canyon experience! Monday, April 16 Desert Botanical Garden Discovery Tour 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Experience and embrace the magnificent beauty of the desert with a visit to the Desert Botanical Garden. Your one-hour guided tour will focus on desert plant biology. You can explore the great diversity of form, texture, and color found in this wondrous array of cacti and succulents from around the world. You will also learn how desert plants are uniquely adapted to survive and thrive in a harsh desert environment and people's interactions with desert plants. Learn the amazing ways people use desert plants for food, tools, and shelter. This tour features such plants as saguaros, agave, mesquite, prickly pear, and jojoba as you traverse through the highlights of this amazing collection. You will learn the history of Phoenix and its founders. Next, Mummy Mountain rises 300 feet (10.5 m) above the valley and offers 180-degree panoramic views of the Valley of the Sun. You will have a chance to see some of Frank Lloyd Wright's famous homes, in addition to the State Capitol Museum and the quaint shops of Old Town Scottsdale. Your last stop will be at the Pueblo Grande Museum. Here you can see 1,500-year-old Hohokam village ruins. What a day! Tuesday, April 17 Apache Trail, Dolly Steamboat, Goldfield Ghost Town Tour Depart Sheraton Grand 8 a.m. (Return approximately 4 to 4:30 p.m.) Your Apache Trail tour begins as you travel the same route as the early explorers of the Apache trail and into the rugged wilderness of the Tonto National Forest. First stop is Sonoran Desert Walk—The Superstition Mountains will serve as the backdrop for an easy and informative walk. Over 30 different plants, desert birds, and mammal species are encountered along this scenic trail. These desert inhabitants played an important role in the daily lives of the Native Americans of the Sonoran Desert. Next, we visit Tortilla Flat, originally a stage stop in 1894. It is now a remnant of an Old West town and home to six people. Here, you will learn the history of the Superstition Mountains, the Lost Dutchman, and other gold legends.
