GUSTAVO LOPEZ BADILLA is a researcher and professor at the Universidad Politecnica de Baja California, Calle de la Claridad SN, Col. Plutarco Elias Calles, Mexicala, Baja California, 21376, Mexico, e-mail: glopezbadilla@yahoo.com. He works in the areas of corrosion, materials, and surface analysis. He has more than 10 years of research and teaching experience. He has a Ph.D. in chemical engineering and founded a chemistry laboratory at UNIVER in Mexicali. BENJAMIN VALDEZ SALAS is the director of the Institute of Engineering, Universidad Autonoma de Baja California, Blvd. Benito Juarez y calle de la Normal s/n, Colonia Insurgentes Este. CP. 21280, Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. He has a B.Sc in chemical engineering, an M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in chemistry, and is a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences and the National System of Researches in Mexico. He was the guest editor of in which he produced two
special issues on corrosion control in geothermal plants and the electronics industry. He is a full professor at the University of Baja California. His activities include corrosion research, consultancy, and control in industrial plants and environments. He has been a NACE International member for 20 years.
M. SCHORR WIENER is a professor (Dr. Honoris Causa) at the Institute of Engineering, Universidad Autonoma de Baja California. He has a B.Sc. in chemistry, an M.Sc. in materials engineering from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, and 40 years of experience in industrial corrosion control. From 1986 to 2004, he was the editor of
He has published 252 scientific and technical articles in English, Spanish, and Hebrew on materials and corrosion. He has worked as a corrosion consultant and professor in Israel, the United States, Latin America, Spain, and South Africa. During the IMRS Congress in August 2010, Mexico, he received a Distinguished Career Award from the NACE Central Mexico Section. He has been a NACE member for 18 years.
