A crack occurred in a well casing at a depth of 836.75 m in less than 70 days after installation. Tis article describes the investigation of the coupling crack, the quality of casing threading,
material performance, and connection make up. It was found that the coupling material toughness was too low, and the torque of the casing connection at the mill end was too high.

A
n oil and gas well was completed at a depth of 5,590 m. Well test- ing was conducted 65 days after the casing was installed. It was
found that the 74th casing from the well- head was pulled out from the connection at the mill end. The pulled-out coupling was cracked and located at a depth of 836.75 m.
