in 1944. He joined the Army and served in the Signal Corps during World War II. He married his wife Constance in 1946, and they enjoyed 65 years together. They came to Sarasota in 1958, associated with Swain's work in the national space program. He went on to earn an M.S. degree at Columbia University, and had a long and satisfying career in electronic instruments.
